Provides administrative support to the Federal Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. Duties include billing, purchasing, reconciliation, and other fiscal and administrative tasks. Drafts, processes, modifies, and monitors federal Research Work Orders. Monitors, prepares, and processes Unit federal reports and correspondence, including time and activity reports, study plans, health and safety, mileage, and inventory reports. Oversees student safety training program. Prepares manuscripts and slides for publication and presentation. Assists with University departmental tasks as assigned including University annual leave maintenance and reporting.
Experience providing administrative support in a professional office environment; strong office computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software; ability to interpret and apply federal regulations and University policy; ability to work independently; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to take initiative in learning, interpreting and applying federal regulations and university policy and procedure; willingness to travel outside the area for training on federal regulations.
Proficiency in any or all university records, reporting, and computer systems such as, PageUp, HokieMart, Chrome River, Summit, Slate, MicroStratagy, and Banner; Fiscal/bookkeeping experience.
