The Virginia Tech School of Architecture + Design within the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, invites applications for one adjunct faculty position in the Industrial Design Program.
Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to design as it relates to objects, systems, services, humans, and the surrounding ecosystem. Ideal candidates would have the capacity to teach a robust industrial design studio, as well as provide instruction in Human Factors and Computer Aided Design software.
Faculty in this position will be expected to teach a design studio each semester, as well as one lecture course in the fall and two courses in the spring semester.
Candidates should be able to address the work of the Creativity + Innovation (C+I) Destination Area within Virginia Tech with an emphasis on how to cultivate holistic, transformative, and sustainable solutions for the benefit of society and the environment. In addition, candidates should be able to align their work with the Center for Humanities. The integration of the candidate's work with the School’s experimental tradition in design, cross-disciplinary and hands-on teaching is essential.
This position will require the capacity to work in diverse teaching environments and across disciplines.

Required Qualifications
- A terminal degree in the field of Industrial Design, Human Factors or a related field of study, by the appointment start date.
- Established teaching experience.
- A proven ability and achievements to communicate ideas central to industrial design through both representation and words.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate Studies in Design
- A record of publication or exhibition in the field.
- Establishment and documentation of cross-disciplinary work.
- Leadership and/or involvement in community activities.
- International work experience.
- Experience in and a commitment to formal investigations that include speculative work, whether drawn, written, or work, are preferred.
