Head Coach-Women's Basketball (Pulaski,TN)

Provides leadership and oversees all aspects of the Women's Basketball program, to include coaching the team; planning, organizing, and supervising team practices; actively identifying, evaluating, and recruiting top quality student-athletes. Candidate will work within office/department, division and college policies and procedures, the NAIA and Southern States Athletic Conference guidelines.
  • Schedules, implements, and attends all preseason, in-season, and post-season practices and contests.
  • Ensures the safety and wellness of players and works collaboratively with the Athletic Training staff.
  • Supervises and coordinates the work of assistant coach and student assistants
  • Monitors and actively encourages student-athletes to succeed academically and represent the university with leadership and integrity, both on and off the court
  • Schedules all team contests; coordinates special events and relevant camps.
  • Provides financial accountability for all UT Southern Women's Basketball functions hosted by the coach/team/department.
  • Oversees strength, conditioning, and nutritional support for Women's Basketball.
  • Prepares athletes for competition and performs post-season evaluations.
  • Game day management of other sports are possible.
  • Works in conjunction with the other court sports with scheduling of the floor, setting up and breaking down the court for games and any other duties assigned in the management of the athletic venue.
  • Responsible for all travel arrangements in conjunction with the assistant coach as well as all reconciliation of budget reports and credit card usage reconciliation after travel and or purchasing of gear and/or equipment.
  • Oversees and fully participates in the fundraising efforts needed to sustain a working budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
Experience
  • Minimum four years coaching at the college/university level, including NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Considerable basketball knowledge of fitness concepts and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
  • Ability in high-level recruiting techniques, knowledge of high school coaches and athletes, and student-athlete concerns.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong computer skills in a Windows-based environment (Microsoft: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), including at least intermediate-level word processing and spreadsheet development.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, as part of a team, and collaborate with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, to maintain confidentiality, and to supervise others.

  • Experience as a head coach in women’s basketball
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of a public university setting and the NAIA.
  • Ability to work with the men’s basketball coach to ensure a smooth working environment.
