RANK - ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR - NON-TENURE/ APPOINTMENT STREAM

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Pathology in the Division of Molecular and Genomic Pathology is recruiting a full-time Molecular Pathologist at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to join the growing Division and serve as Assistant or Associate Director of the Molecular and Genomic Pathology Laboratory. The Division currently has 11 faculty members and annually reports more than 30,000 molecular tests, most of which are complex next-generation sequencing tests in solid tumors, hematologic oncology, and germline genetics. The Division processes many reference tests and is known for its innovation in molecular diagnostics. The Division is home to a Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Program with two fellows trained annually. For more information, visit https://path.upmc.edu/.

Responsibilities include signing out of molecular tests, overseeing interpretation of somatic and germline variants, developing new tests including large-scale NGS (e.g., whole exome), teaching Molecular Genetic Pathology fellows and Pathology residents, and translational research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate must have an MD degree and residency training in Pathology and hold subspecialty board certification/board eligibility in molecular genetic pathology (ABP) or clinical molecular genetics (ABMGG). Experience with interpreting whole exome-based molecular assays for germline genetics or optical genome mapping is desirable, but not required.
