Warehouse Supervisor - PW
- General Definition of Work
Responsible for the daily operation of the Town's warehouse and for the purchase of items within the Town's small purchase procedure limits. Performs related clerical functions as required. Performs support functions for construction material deliveries and PW Lot maintenance. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Works Director.

Filling Public Works department stock requisitions.
Ordering inventory items; maintaining proper inventory stock levels.
Receiving merchandise.
Notifying end users when major/important deliveries are received.
Order expediting.
Returning incorrect or defective merchandise.
Processing purchase orders, stock requisitions, inventory control, adjustments and updates.
Obtaining competitive prices and placing orders for inventory items.
Stocking shelves; transferring equipment and supplies from loading dock to the warehouse and from delivery trucks to Public Works lot storage areas.
Picking up and delivering electronics recycling trailer from the YMCA.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school or GED. Experience with the public procurement process and with materials management preferred.
Special Requirements
Valid driver's license from the Commonwealth of Virginia and a satisfactory driving record.
OSHA Forklift Certification is required within 90-days of hire into the position- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires thorough knowledge of inventory control systems and inventory storage. Thorough knowledge of supply sources for parts, materials, tools and other non-inventory items. Knowledge of Town purchasing rules. Thorough knowledge of purchasing practices and techniques. Thorough knowledge of business arithmetic and of office and business systems and equipment. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others. Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records. Ability to adjust and maintain adequate inventory and effective inventory controls. Ability to resolve discrepancies. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Requires the physical ability to bend, grasp and lift objects from floor to overhead shelves. Physical ability to remove objects from overhead shelves. Ability to use forklift and lift jack and other material handling equipment. Ability to use a large loader to assist with road salt deliveries; Ability to haul and maneuver storage trailers using a pick-up truck. Ability to use snow plow equipment to clear Public Works lot parking areas. Ability to interact with others and possess good oral and written communication skills. Requires working knowledge of computers and other office equipment.
- Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles, frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather).
