General Definition of Work

As one of our Camp Counselors, you will be engaging with our Summer Camp participants enrolled in our Bouncing Bear Cubs Summer Camp program and their families on a daily basis, and we want that engagement to be a positive experience. To thrive in this role, you must love working with children and able to demonstrate a high level of patience, enthusiasm and creativity. PLAY, FUN, and SAFETY are our top priority! Every day you will supervise a group of children in the 3-6 year old age range as they participate in our Bouncing Bear Cub Summer Camp experiences including but not limited to: outdoor play, water play, sports activities, inflatables, obstacle courses, arts and crafts. Assisting the Programs Supervisor with planning and carrying out activities will also be a key part of your role.
 
Shift: May 29, 2023 - July 28th, 2023 Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 12:30 pm

Essential Functions

  • Assists with the development and implementation of daily routine, schedule, programming and organization of all summer camp activities
  • Maintains control and discipline of a group of children at all times and in all locations
  • Works closely with the Program Supervisor in implementing scheduled activities
  • Carries out the programs scheduled for summer camp
  • Assists in preparing required reports and forms
  • Prepares areas and locations to in use during summer camp programs 
  • Obtains and stores equipment in proper area in an organized manner
  • Enforces all safety rules
  • Upholds and enforces department policies
  • Reports potential physical hazards in the facility and equipment to the Program Coordinator
  • Effectively communicates problems to the Program Supervisor, Department Program Coordinator, and Department staff or others
  • Administers lifesaving and emergency techniques covered by certified training

  

 TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

 All types of recreational supplies including but not limited to balls, bats, phone, emergency equipment, two-way radio, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

·   High School Diploma or GED Certification required

·   Must be at least 18 years of age 

·   Completion of a CPR , Standard First Aid, AED courses, or have the ability to obtain training, and any other training scheduled by the department

·  A valid driver's license with an satisfactory driving record
