Electrical Engineer

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER The Town of Bedford, Virginia. is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Electrical Engineer. Bedford is a small town located between Lynchburg and Roanoke in Central Virginia, home to a strong manufacturing base and a diverse business and arts community and the National D-Day Memorial. The major duties of this position are to perform intermediate professional and technical work in the design, maintenance, construction, installation and repair of our electric transmission and distribution system, SCADA system, diesel generators, hydro plant, and other electric facilities. We have 11 substations and roughly 300 miles of transmission and distribution lines. Responsibilities include other related work as needed. Responsible for coordinating with other utilities, working with builders and contractors on projects and assisting with budget preparation. This position reports to the Director of the Electric Department. The successful candidate must possess a degree in Electrical Engineering or other engineering major with some electric utility experience; comprehensive knowledge of the theories and principles of electrical transmission and distribution systems; knowledge of NEC, NESC and OSHA regulations. Must be able to work with limited supervision, have excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills. Leadership experience a plus. A professional engineering license desired. Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license. Competitive salary based on experience.
