Corporate Relations Manager
The Corporate Relations Manager will improve donor communications and stewardship as well as assist in cultivating new relationships in partnership with the Director of Brand Management & Corporate Relations. The Corporate Relations Manager will manage donor accounts and will regularly interface with donors and Salvation Army corporate fundraising leads in each of the four territories.

GENERAL
- Pursues new corporate funding in collaboration with the Director of Brand Management & Corporate Relations and territories.
- Develops relationships between The Salvation Army and corporations whose business activity crosses territorial boundaries with the purpose of substantially supporting The Salvation Army work.
- Serves as primary relationship manager, in collaboration with territorial fund raisers, and the Director of Brand Management & Corporate Relations, of an assigned caseload of corporate funders whose interests extend beyond territorial boundaries.
- Achieves assigned goals and established metrics.
- Works with the Communications Department and Web Communications Director to ensure partnership activations are appropriately promoted through earned and owned media channels.
- Works with NHQ Finance, ensures corporate partner gifts are accurately routed and provides backup (documentation, contractual agreements, etc.) regarding further disbursement of funds and communicates remittance and reporting requirements to the involved territories.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Brand Management & Corporate Relations.
- Participation in approved conferences and seminars.
DATA COLLECTION & FIELD COMMUNICATION
- Works with the field to collect stewardship data and create stewardship reports for corporate partnership activations managed out of National Headquarters (NHQ).
- Communicates with the field about national partnership opportunities out of NHQ.
- Receives and route corporate inquiry forms from NHQ Corporate website.
CORPORATE VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT
- Works with the territories to strengthen their corporate volunteer engagement program.
- Creates scalable opportunities for corporate employee group volunteer engagement.
- Works with digital fundraising team to develop the best user experience for group volunteer activities for our corporate partners.
DISASTER
- Helps to field donation offers in times of significant disaster.
- Creates regular donor communications during and after a disaster to send to national partners as well as to provide to the territorial corporate fundraisers.
- Serves as stewardship officer in the field during large-scale disasters as requested/needed.
PROSPECT RESEARCH
- Researches prospects for different funding opportunities as directed by the Director of Brand Management & Corporate Relations.
- Provides prospect research notes to leadership ahead of corporate meetings.
PARTNERSHIP ACTIVATION COORDINATION
- Assists with all coordination aspects of partnership activation including: coordinating the legal agreement process, keeping accurate record of participating units, updating and tracking metrics related to the campaign, keeping a calendar of key action items for the campaign, providing coordination support to the partner as needed/asked, communicating progress and providing excellent customer service to our partners throughout.
CHRISTMAS
- Assists as needed with Christmas partnership activations including managing the annual process of requesting access to retail corporations for the purpose of the Christmas Bell Ringer solicitations, compiling and distributing annual Christmas campaign statistics, and developing stewardship reports.
- Develops corporate volunteering and kettle sponsorship opportunities for the Christmas Kettles. Work with corporations, malls, and retail chains to expand physical kettle locations.
- Serves as a liaison to the field for any help they may need related to Christmas pitch and activation materials for partners.
- Provides standardized stewardship materials to the field.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
and/or
5+ years of experience working in nonprofit fundraising, partnership development or marketing.
An understanding of the multi-faceted corporate philanthropy and corporate fundraising landscape.
Experience working with and recruiting board members and volunteers.
Graphic design, project management and/or writing skills/experience a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and follow-up for successful closure of gifts and volunteer commitment.
Strong and effective interpersonal and persuasive skills, modeling effective relationship management and demonstrating emotional intelligence / situational awareness.
Ability to assess a situation and come up with effective solutions. Takes a solutions-based approach to projects/work.
Excellent document creation, proposal, and presentation development skills.
Strong organizational skills, follow-through, and attention to detail.
Proven experience in funding and partnership development, especially in the area of corporate partnerships preferred.
Ability to assist in developing collaborative approaches in harmony with local Army stakeholders for win (Salvation Army) - win (corporate) results.
Ability to effectively manage many projects at one time. Project management experience is a plus.
Knowledge of cause-marketing and product tie-in best practices and how to effectively apply such options to dialogue with prospective corporate funders for the Army's benefit.
Ability to apply knowledge of Army policies and procedures and ability to communicate and follow accurate interpretation of the same.
Ability to travel as necessary to carry out responsibilities and assignments.
Ability to be a driven self-starter; to work independently on project management, while working collaboratively and cooperatively under the supervision of the National Director of Corporate Relations and department leadership.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple competing priorities.
Team player, engaging effectively and respectfully with other staff for accomplishment of organizational and department goals.
A fundraiser at heart, able to successfully engage with corporate decision-makers through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity.
Understanding of prospect identification and research and relationship management approaches.
SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with PC's and networking.
Experience with donor management software.
Experience with graphic design template software.
