Job Summary
Reporting to the Children's Center Director, the Children's Center Administrator is responsible for a variety of administrative duties that support the operations of the Children's Center.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Assist the Children's Center Director with administrative tasks, prepare and maintain a variety of reports
- Ensures that the childcare center environment is safe and free of potential hazards
- Coordinates substitute teachers when regular teachers are out ill, on vacation, or training
- Initiates and receives phone calls, compose correspondence and distribute communications
- Schedules conferences, appointments and meetings; receive, open, prioritize and distribute mail
- Orders supplies for the center, monitor and balance assigned budgets; assure expenditures are accurate and resolve discrepancies
- Oversees childcare registration; processes tuition income; maintains waiting list
- Greets visitors and provides tours for prospective parents and students
- Maintains all child files and ensures children have current immunizations
- Assists with the enforcement of all state and national accreditation and licensing standards
- Acts as the liaison between the Center and all other programs on campus in addition to the families that attend the center and the community at large
- Works with college students to arrange observation hours and activities
- Maintains accurate and current child emergency release information and oversee the release of children to authorized parent/guardian or approved individual
- Dispenses approved medication to children in accordance with physician instructions and Child Care Licensing policy; notify parents of ill or injured children as needed
- Requisitions, receives, stores and distributes supplies and office materials; confers with vendors to resolve issues related to merchandise received
Provides direction, on-going monitoring, and support to direct reports
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
- Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Works under the general supervision of the Children's Center Director
*Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Three (3) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
- At least one (1) year's working experience in a childcare setting
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships
- Skilled in oral, electronic, and written communications
- Skilled in strong organizational skills
- Skilled using computerized applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
- Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
- Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
