Accounting Specialist: Part time position with flexible hours
Job Description
- Oversee all financial functions, acting as Library’s controller. This includes preparing and monitoring the Library’s annual operating budget and State Aid budget, as well as overseeing all accounting processes such as accounts payable, income, and production of financial reports. Work is done independently with organization’s/CPA’s accounting system.
- Provide accounting administrative needs and reallocates or secures resources to meet the needs of the library as approved by Director or Board of Trustees.
- Oversee reporting procedures, reduce costs and meet professional standards and legal requirements
- Monitors Library’s operational, financial effectiveness. Assistance with financial inspections and analysis and audits to measure operational conditions.
- Provides related budget information and distributions.
- Attends Board of Trustees meetings as a departmental representative to provide financial report.
- Performs related work as required. Follow policies and procedure.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of general financial administrative practices, operation of professional office accounting systems. Knowledge of accounting principles involved in planning and resource allocations. Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, the public, and vendors. Knowledge of the principles and procedures of fiscal management related to accounting and budgeting. ability to develop and monitor a departmental budget. Ability to review and manage accounts receivable and payable. Skill and ability to manage fiscal and management information systems. Skill in operating a personal computer and utilizing software applications used in developing Word documents, spreadsheets, and other formats. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other departmental staff. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Minimum: Certificate, 2- or 4-year degree or extensive work experience in accounting, Experience preparing and managing budgets. A combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Preferred: Degree in Accounting, Finance, Public or Business Administration; seven (7) years' experience developing, monitoring and managing budgets and fiscal operations, working in administration; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Flexible Part-time Hours M-F during hours of operation
