- GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs responsible service work that assists in planning and supervising the operations and delivery of Visitor Center services for Explore Park. Helps with all cash flow and inventory control, providing excellent customer service, providing timely, complete and accurate paperwork. Supervision is exercised over employees assigned to the Visitor Center. Work is performed under direct supervision of Business Services Supervisor. Does related work as required.
Must be available to work a varied schedule including day, evening, weekend and holidays, and willing to be on-call on alternating weekends. Works on average 20 hours per week with additional seasonal hours.- ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Delivers uncompromising customer service responding immediately to customer requests, inquiries, and concerns.
- Ensures that all State and local Health Department Standards are met. Helps to recruit, train, and supervise all Visitor Center Staff. Reviews and controls all inventory.
- Places merchandise orders upon supervisor approval.
- Handles point of sale transactions according to County policies and procedures. Cleans facilities as needed.
- Works directly with the public having good communication skills in a warm and friendly manner.
- Provides information and assists customers, sometimes dealing with difficult situations or people.
- Assists with monitoring revenue and managing expenses.
- Reports equipment or park issues to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Performs related administrative work including data entry and record keeping.
- Work is performed under general supervision, often using independent judgment to resolve situations.
- May work varied shifts to accommodate customers and facility including weekends and nights.
- Opens and closes facilities according to set operating procedures and properly train staff to do the same
- REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
- EducationRequired: High School Diploma or equivalentExperienceRequired: One (1) to (2) years of customer service experience (could be a variety of settings)Preferred: Two (2) or more years of customer service, supervisory, and retail experience.Certifications/LicensesRequired: Valid Virginia driver’s license and have good driving record. CPR, First Aid, and AED certified or ability to obtain.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong ability to work with public in person.
- Ability to advise on and interpret County policies in researching and resolving customer inquiries, requests and complaints.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with staff, coworkers, activity participants and the general public.
- Good knowledge of office terminology, procedures, equipment technology.
- Ability to function as part of the team.
- Ability to perform set-up and break down of tables, chairs and equipment as required for programs, activities and rentals.
