Front Desk Clerk (Open Until Filled)
- GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs routine clerical and support work related to the intake of animals from the public and Animal Control, the disposition of those animals and the required record-keeping for those transactions. Performs other duties as assigned.
- ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- · Supports the humane treatment of all animals at all times.· Maintains the front lobby appearance.· Processes intake of strays and owner relinquished animals ensuring all paperwork pertaining to the transaction is entered into Animal Shelter Net system timely and accurately.· Reunites animals with owners ensuring that all paperwork is completed correctly and all requirements are met before returning the animal to its owner.· Collects fees related to return of animals to their owner, including processing of cash and credit card payments.· Photographs stray animals and, posts on the RCACP website in an effort to reunite lost pets with their owners.· Maintains and edits Regional Center For Animal Care and Protection website, approving lost and found posts and removing pets as they arrive at a disposition.· Answers incoming phone calls courteously, professionally and in a timely manner, handling directly or referring caller to appropriate personnel.· Reconciles previous day's work on an Excel spreadsheet.· Greet visitors in a professional, non-judgmental manner, remaining receptive to their needs and inquiries.· Assists the Rescue Coordinator with networking and ownership changes as needed to include developing contacts with new rescue groups and maintaining current relationships.· Assists citizens interested in choosing a pet for adoption.· Maintains effective working relationships with all animal control personnel, animal welfare organizations, volunteers, citizens and coworkers.· Ensures the front desk is properly cleaned and stocked with all necessary supplies.NON ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS· Provides oversight to volunteers.
- REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
- EducationRequired: High School Diploma or equivalentExperienceRequired: Customer service experience including data entry and handling cash transactions.Preferred: Experience working with animals.Certifications/ LicensesNoneKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Some knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
- Skill in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Office
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy
- Ability to schedule and organize work independently
- Ability to communicate orally with a variety of people in person and by telephone

- Ability to follow oral and written instruction
- Ability to keep accurate records and follow set procedure

Additional RequirementsSubject to a complete criminal history and Child Protective Services background search with acceptable results. Good physical condition. Following a conditional offer of employment, must pass a post offer physical examination.
