The Oradell Animal Hospital, located in Paramus, New Jersey, is seeking applicants for an avian and exotic animal veterinarian to join our Avian, Exotic, and Zoological Medicine Service. Hospital Description: Oradell Animal Hospital is a 24-hour specialty and primary care hospital that has been providing small animal and exotic animal care for the residents of northern New Jersey for over 60 years. The hospital is located in a highly populated area with a clientele committed to quality pet care. We are a privately-owned, full service, AHAA accredited hospital with 60+ veterinarians including interns, residents, general practitioners and board certified specialists in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Surgery, Nutrition, ABVP, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Radiology, Neurology, Anesthesiology, Emergency and Critical Care Medicine and Zoological Medicine.

We have on-site CT, MRI, endoscopy, digital radiography and ultrasound capability, as well as a dedicated exotic animal ward that we are currently updating and expanding to provide both an intensive care ward, including multiple incubators and an oxygen cage, as well as a step down unit. We currently have one specialist board certified through the American College of Zoological Medicine as well as 2 primary care doctors with a special interest in exotic animal medicine, one of whom also provides care for the Bergen County Zoo.

Our facility is a VetCOT certified Level II Veterinary Trauma Center, as well as a certified Level II VECCS Facility. Our 1200 square foot Critical Care Unit is a highly equipped, state of the art facility that includes 5 oxygen cages, a Puritan Bennett 840 ventilator, and a multi-parameter unit for continuous cage side monitoring. The hospital has multiple point of care and in-house laboratory testing capabilities, including a Nova blood gas analyzer, an Abaxis Vetscan VS2 for analyzing small blood samples, and a Lead Care II analyzer. Our emergency service sees urgent and emergency avian and exotic animal cases primarily 24 hours a day.

Hospitalized patients are transferred to the specialty service or exotics focused primary care doctor the following day.

Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 3-5 years of experience with avian and exotic species. Preference will be given to applicants who are ACZM or ABVP (avian, exotic companion mammal, or reptile and amphibian) board certified or board eligible. Qualified applicants will enjoy collaborating with supportive specialty colleagues to provide comprehensive care with a wide variety of challenging cases.
