Chief Executive Officer
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) wanted. Oneida-Madison Electric Cooperative, Inc. (OMEC), a full service electric distribution utility, is immediately seeking a full time professional CEO (to also serve as General Manager) for its office in Bouckville, New York. Position reports directly to the elected Board of Directors and requires accountability for the short term and long term performance of the business, utilizing a combination of unionized “field” staff, a small administrative staff no more than 3 full time employees, contractors, and multiple diverse cooperating organizations. Preferred candidates shall have expertise in business, management, physical/cyber security, customer service, leadership, advocacy/lobbying, high voltage power systems operations, policy making, diplomacy, labor relations, utility safety, engineering, regulatory compliance, rate administration, bulk power supply, finance, economics, and written/oral communications. A combination of education and experience in a comparable field and similar leadership role are preferred, as is the ability to demonstrate past success as an effective business leader and consumer advocate. The incumbent CEO of 9 years recently accepted a position with another cooperative, creating the need for the current CEO search, and is providing shared leadership and services during the CEO transitional period planned for execution by the Board of Directors.
