Montgomery County currently seeks Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician responsible for HVAC systems throughout County facilities (including, but not limited to the Courthouse, Government Center, Health and Human Services; Jail, Public Safety Building, Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library locations, and ancillary facilities). Customary duties include commercial and industrial HVAC maintenance, installation and repair; diagnose, test, and troubleshoot various HVAC equipment and controls; assist with management of HVAC service contracts and development of equipment specifications; direct activities of maintenance service vendors; and assist with budget preparation regarding facility HVAC replacement and repairs.
High School diploma/GED required with training/certifications in HVAC field, plus experience servicing and maintaining: helical rotary chillers (air and water-cooled), package units, split systems, steam & hot water boilers, fan coil units, fan boxes, circulating pumps, exhaust fans, building automation systems, electronic and pneumatic controls, duct and zone sensors, and cooling towers. Minimum five years' experience in commercial and industrial plumbing, electricity, fuel gases, refrigerant gases, sheet metal and ductwork. Must be able to stoop/crawl through access portals/climb ladders, traverse uneven terrain. Proficiency required with customary computer applications and experience maintaining accurate records and files. Overtime/call-in may be required after hours or on weekends if alarms or repairs necessitate.
