Montgomery County seeks a Planning Director to lead the Department of Planning & GIS Services. This position reports to the Deputy County Administrator and provides staff support to the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals. Responsibilities include long range planning, zoning and subdivision administration, automation of land development review, transportation coordination, and oversight of GIS. This position requires coordination and collaboration with various State agencies, County departments, and other municipalities on mutual land use planning matters. The successful candidate must possess strong management, communication, and technology skills and the ability to apply professional planning practices to real world projects and situations, as well as building strong relationships with internal and regional peers, stakeholders from other agencies, and the public. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in planning or related field and a minimum of five (5) years' experience in professional planning work or any equivalent combination of training and experience. AICP certification and supervisory experience are preferred.
Starting pay $87,318 - $104,782/yr depending on experience and qualifications, plus excellent benefits (paid health, dental, and vision, onsite medical clinic, paid holidays, flex spending, life, disability, VRS and optional retirement, and much more).
