Human Resources (HR) and Operations Assistant, Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE),to serve as a member of the department’s headquarters team and perform a wide range of highly sensitive administrative and complex human resources duties. Responsibilities will include assisting with hiring, onboarding, and training student workers and temporary employees; handling and maintaining the department’s confidential personnel files; serving as a resource on general Institute HR inquiries; processing incoming information and documents related to complex visa paperwork; working closely with the DMSE HR coordinator, HR administrator, and international scholars regarding visa acquisitions and timelines; functioning as a liaison between the prospective visiting scholar and the International Scholars Office; and performing other duties as needed.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: High school diploma or its equivalent; three years of related experience in a professional administrative office support position; ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks; excellent organizational, customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; good judgment and discretion with confidential information; meticulous attention to detail; self-motivation; ability to work both independently and as part of a team and to interact effectively with people from different backgrounds; willingness to research answers to and resolve problems proactively; and proficiency with MS Office, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Seek a tech-savvy administrator who is ready to take advantage of organizational tools and database systems to streamline and simplify departmental processes.
PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree; MIT and human resources experience; and experience with QuickBase, Cognos, and applicant tracking systems (ATS).

Hiring salary range: $52,000 - 65,000, depending on experience
This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week on campus.
