Duties and Responsibilities
Summary:
The Information Technology Services (ITS) division at Loyola University Chicago seeks a collaborative individual to share expertise in business process analysis and design within the Project Management Office. This incumbent will work closely with clients to fully understand their functional requirements and processes to define improvements to their operations. This individual must be able to analyze business processes and data, identify problems, reason logically and draw valid conclusions. He/she must apply creative thinking in the design of methods of processing data, develop effective solutions, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Researches and analyzes basic and complex issues surrounding the processes and systems of the institution. Makes recommendations surrounding improving processes, efficiency and practices. Wins agreement from stakeholders on process definition improvements, critical success factors, institutional value, metrics and approach.
2. Work closely with end users to understand institutional and document the needs/requirements and develop the process and workflow specifications for systems to be developed to meet the institutional objectives.
3. Uses functional experience, technical knowledge, and team collaboration to resolve unforeseen issues and adjust resources and plans accordingly to meet the process improvement objectives.
4. Must be able to influence and persuade individuals and/or groups to identify common ground solutions.
5. Regularly communicate in writing and in-person to end users and resource contributors about process expectations and on-going status.
6. Demonstrate a commitment to Loyola's mission and strategy by supporting the ITS core values of service excellence for university strategic initiatives and continuous development/improvement.
7. Proactively manages change through existing change management processes.
8. Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary.
The current work modality within Information Technology Services is a hybrid work environment with on-campus and remote components. The remote component is defined by the manager and as appropriate for the position.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Business or equivalent experience. Relevant industry experience, aptitude, and the ability to learn while applying knowledge and skill-sets is important.
• Minimum of 1-3 years experience and proven ability to author business case, scope documentation, functional and system specifications, quality assurance plans, process reengineering documents, workflows, and status reports.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Business or equivalent experience. Relevant industry experience, aptitude, and the ability to learn while applying knowledge and skill-sets is important.
• Minimum of 1-3 years experience and proven ability to author business case, scope documentation, functional and system specifications, quality assurance plans, process reengineering documents, workflows, and status reports.
• Ability to read business requirements or deliverables for completeness, accuracy, etc.
• Experience with or exposure to document imaging, document management, or enterprise content management solutions is a plus but not required.
• Proven ability to support quality assurance principles and methods.
• In depth knowledge of system development life cycles and system development methodologies.
• Special consideration given to candidates with experience in Higher Education
Language Ability:
• Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal and consultative skills to work effectively with vendors, clients, peers, and ITS management and staff.
• Core consulting skills such as business writing and presenting, and analytic comparisons.
Computation Ability:
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Experience with querying relational databases is a plus but not required.
Reasoning Ability:
• Must be detail oriented, results focused, possess effective written and verbal communication skills, and be able to support change management initiatives.
• Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Generates creative solutions; Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in both group and individual problem solving situations. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance.

• Proactively manages change through existing change management processes, and project risks through early identification, negotiation and/or escalation when required.

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
ITIL or PMP Certification is a plus, but not required.

• Experience with any of the following is a plus, but not required. PeopleSoft, Lawson, Sakai, DocFinity, Archibus, Salesforce, Advance.
