The History Department at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Modern United States History (after 1900). This is a full-time, one-year position beginning July 1, 2023 with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Position and Qualifications
The teaching load for the year will be six classes (typically three classes per semester). Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of courses at the introductory and advanced levels. Additionally, candidates will be expected to help with the supervision of senior theses in their area of specialization. Desired specializations include the history of gender and sexuality, public history, environmental history, and the history of science.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in history in hand by July 1, 2023 and a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level, particularly at a liberal arts institution.
