About the Role
The Multimedia Specialist collaborates with members of the Marketing and Communications team, as well as internal and external partners and stakeholders, to help the university leverage multimedia platforms to meet its strategic goals. This position strengthens and promotes the university's brand, enhancing visibility and engaging target audiences through the production of high-quality, relevant content that is designed for multiple marketing channels (ex. web, digital communications, and social media) and distributed in a strategic and integrated manner. The Multimedia Specialist determines the most effective communication channels for each marketing initiative and develops written and multimedia content that resonates with key audiences and captures the vibrancy of academic and campus life at Hollins. This position reports to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications.

Specific duties include the following:
- Videography
- Develop creative, innovative, responsive, and engaging video material targeting primary audiences that directly supports and promotes the university's strategic initiatives, brand, strengths, distinctions, and key themes and messages. This work includes storyline and script development; coordination of interviews; providing additional details (ex. design effects, voiceovers, music, etc.) as needed to accentuate the message and its effectiveness; and producing, editing, and uploading the video material to the web and other platforms.
- Attend and cover on- and off-campus events and programs as needed to produce compelling written and multimedia content that supports marketing initiatives and institutional priorities
- Support the web manager in ensuring that the university website is engaging and up-to-date with fresh and current content
- Social Media
- Develop and maintain cohesive effective short- and long-term social media strategies
- Continuously update and monitor Hollins' presence on the university's main social media pages and other external platforms for issues that need to be addressed
- Serve as one of several university-wide social media administrators
Successful applicants must have the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of the essentials of branding, marketing, messaging, and storytelling
- Minimum of three years of experience in managing all aspects of video production projects including:
- Planning and drafting aspects such as participation in project meetings, development of creative briefs and storyboards, management of story concepts and scripts, and development of project schedules
- Experience in the technical aspects of videography including skills with DSLR cameras and other recording devices, lighting, sound, and other equipment for shooting and editing compelling videos
- Sound writing, editing, proofreading, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to details and accuracy
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite – including Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop – and other software/content management systems
- Abilities to conduct interviews, complete research, and produce compelling written and multimedia content
- Abilities to self-start, proactively problem-solve, and maintain a solution-oriented mindset
- Abilities to work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility with changing priorities and assignments; meet tight deadlines; initiate, prioritize, and manage multiple projects; and work well independently and as part of a team
- Ability to move, lift, set up, and break down photography and videography equipment
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evening and weekend hours
- Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communication, marketing, business, or related field
- Experience working with graphic design software/tools such as InDesign and Illustrator
- Experience managing social media for an organization
- Experience planning and executing digital advertising campaigns on social media platforms and using Google Ads
- Working knowledge of Slate or other admission or sales CRM
