Farm Production Coordinator – Are you an experienced grower with a green thumb that can't quit? Join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in cultivating health and wellness in our local communities as a Farm Production Coordinator at High Rocks. Our mission is to educate, empower, and inspire young people in West Virginia, and as a Farm Production Coordinator, you'll be at the forefront of this transformational work, working closely with the High Rocks Farm Manager, local farmers, and youth. Working side-by-side with young people, you'll teach them horticulture skills while mentoring them. Our farm has a triple bottom line: people, profit, and place, and you'll be helping to grow all three. You'll help coordinate our farm operations, including production planning, planting, growing, and harvesting beautiful produce, and serving as a supervisor for young people earning money while learning during their time with us. This food will go to local programs, schools, food pantries, restaurants, and other partners in our community. This position will use their knowledge of horticulture, passion for agriculture, and dedication to empowering the next generation of growers to have a lasting impact on local youth and the future of our region.
Compensation: $15 – $22/hour, 16-24 hours/week. Based in Hillsboro, WV, this position is part-time, at-will, and eligible for flexible workplace and professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate production planning using tend.com.
- Coordinate sales and delivery using Square or other applications.
- Maintain harvest records and other production, quality, and sales data.
- Provide excellent customer service to the customer base, including wholesale customers, farmers markets, and new customers.
- Assist with building farm infrastructure (including high tunnels, equipment storage, and other infrastructure as needed).
- Mentor and train young farmers in agricultural and power skills.
- Support Local Foods programming and work as a team to meet strategic goals (including production, sales, food security, customer relations, and workforce pathways for youth, as needed).
- Assist with managing and coordinating the Ruby Grow farm, Grow Appalachia program, and Folk Arts and Culture Workshop Series.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent recommended.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication.
- Growing experience is required; commercial growing experience is a plus.
- Organized and customer-focused.
- A background check is required since we work with vulnerable populations and Workforce WV. Must be able to pass a drug screening.
