Video Content Coordinator

The USA TODAY NETWORK is looking for a news junkie to join its video team as a Video Content Coordinator (VCC) who thrives at getting video content to viewers across the many platforms available. If you’re the type of person who can spot trending videos and knows how to get them distributed to OTT, YouTube and other popular platforms, then we need you! The VCC will team up with USA TODAY’s section editors, home front editors, writers, reporters and video producers to program and promote original and third party video content in articles, section fronts, social media and other platforms. The VCC will be excited about monitoring digital analytics for interesting trends to make programming decisions. He/She may also be called about to produce and edit video on demand content, so should be comfortable with basic producing and editing video for desktop, mobile and social platforms.
Prioritization and multi-tasking are second-nature to the VCC, who’s also not one to shy away from hopping in during breaking news. The VCC should also be able to communicate effectively with Senior-level management, editors, reporters and other video team members. The VCC will be responsible for reviewing third party content for editorial quality to be sure it meets the standards of the USA TODAY NETWORK. He/She will also be responsible for spicing up headlines and descriptions to optimize performance and SEO on desktop, mobile and social platforms. The VCC should be comfortable making editorial decisions and with rights management. We’re also looking for someone who is good at catching mistakes. The VCC will be the last line of defense in making sure content is up to date, accurate, editorially sound and does not contain errors in grammar, spelling or style.
Position is located in Washington, D.C. but would be remote to start.

Requirements:
Education/Certification Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree, Journalism, Communications or Liberal Arts
Experience Required
• At least 2-4 years’ professional experience
• Must have experience with digital analytics such as Google Analytics and Parsely
• 1-2 years experience producing video for digital news platforms
• Ability to write creative, SEO-friendly headlines, descriptions
• Experience writing posts for social networks
• Understanding of video rights management
• Ability to proactively manage priorities
Specialized Knowledge Required or Preferred
• Experience with editing systems such as Adobe Premiere is preferred
Universal Skills and Traits Preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excels at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starter, who can work without direction
Technology/Equipment Expertise or Proficiency
• Experience with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects preferred
