The Financial Analyst position provides support for management reporting and financial analysis for Gannett’s Digital Marketing Services (DMS) functional groups as well as all of Gannett’s post-sales functions. The individual will be expected to work across both of the above areas of our business and is chiefly responsible for developing and maintaining business metric reporting for Sales, Post-Sales, and certain Product & Technology (P&T) functions. Work performed includes financial modeling, forecasting, trend analysis, variance analysis, as well as other ad hoc business requests for a variety of stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Financial modeling of ongoing business initiatives, drawing conclusions from the data, preparing presentations and making recommendations to all levels of management across the organization
Design, analysis, presentation and communication of various Sales, P&T & Operations programs, including but not limited to compensation, sales promotions and contests
Utilizing the company’s financial systems to update and maintain Global forecasts and related forecast reporting
Prepare annual budget and produce monthly and quarterly revenue and expense forecasts including analysis of trends
Provide detailed actual to plan variance analysis that assists managers with interpreting performance
Drive accountability and forecast accuracy while developing trusted relationships with business partners
Analyze historical trends and look for opportunities for revenue growth or expense savings
Take large quantities of financial data and analytic results and condense them into a coherent story and prepare presentations for leadership meetings that draw meaningful conclusions
Conduct analysis to recognize trends, variances, and identify opportunities for operational improvement including capital projects
Partner with business owners to come up with strategic initiatives and provide data to help with execution
Strong understanding of general ledger, and payroll systems including BPC, Basware, Concur and Lawson preferred
Ad-hoc reporting and analysis
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics or other quantitative study preferred
Minimum of 3 years experience working in a financial reporting, business analysis and/or financial analysis role
High proficiency in Excel required
Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
Strong problem solving skills and ability to think outside the box
Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills
