Ferrum College has an opening for an academic support counselor. Job duties include working with the Dean of Academic Success, CCAS team members, and faculty and staff to: provide in-person academic counseling to academically at-risk students; teach CSK-096 (College Skills); write individualized academic recovery plans; collect and track data relevant to the Academic Recovery Program, write semester and yearly reports, write Financial Aid Academic Plans, maintain a database of students on the academic recovery caseload; respond to Early Academic Alerts and other communications; serve as the Director of the PAL Tutoring Program; and support programming of the Dean of Academic Success and CCAS team.
This is a full time, 40-hour a week on-site (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) position with occasional weekend and overtime work. A background check is required.
Minimum qualifications include: a Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, education or similar field; one (1) year of full-time or two (2) years of part-time successful experience working with at-risk students in higher education; basic knowledge of computers; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
