Summary Position
The Director of Compliance and Title IX supports the mission and the strategic plan of the university through the development and implementation of policies, programs and trainings that promote and sustain the university's commitment to equity among its students, faculty and staff. The Director will serve as primary overseer for ADA, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Clery, FERPA, HIPAA, Protection of Minor matters and any other university compliance areas. Will also assure university compliance with all federal regulations and requirements. The Director reports to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources and works collaboratively with other members of the Elon University community to address and respond to allegations of discrimination and/or harassment as set forth in various university policies and federal and state regulations.

Education Requirements
- A Master’s degree in related field, plus 3-5 years of experience in complaint resolution, higher education administration, human resources management, and/or EEO/ADA compliance, including writing fact finding reports in Title IX matters is required.
- A J.D. or terminal degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience conducting investigations of cases involving discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking or bullying.
- Experience working in or with institutions of higher education, including experience working with students.
- Experience with an adjudicatory process, either criminal or administrative.
- Experience developing and presenting training, preferably on prohibited discrimination/equal opportunity issues.
- Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations including Title IX, due process protections as they apply to Student Conduct proceedings, the Clery Act, VAWA, and FERPA.

- Serve as the University’s ADA Coordinator;
- Review university practices and policies to assure compliance with federal state and state laws
- Serve as a resource to the university’s incident response team;
- Administrator for the university’s ethics program (Ethicspoint);
- Coordinate compliance-related functions throughout campus;
- Will establish and chair a University Compliance Council which, among other things, will identify areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, and will identify the resources necessary to address those areas;
- Develop investigation plans and assign investigators to cases as necessary;
- Act as a neutral party through all aspects of investigation and ensures a prompt, fair and
- Oversee informal resolution processes where appropriate;
- Assist with case decision making processes outlined within university policy and in conjunction with appropriate university stakeholders;
- Advise complainants and respondents of their rights. Maintain a high level of confidentiality during all proceedings;
- Ensure a well-documented investigative process.
- Provide periodic, timely updates regarding the status of complaints received and
- Collaborate with various offices to address any systemic problems;
- Assist in maintaining requested statistics and data for reporting purposes
- Remain knowledgeable of current state and federal law, regulations, and trends in the field of education related to harassment and other discriminatory practices that violate the ADA, Title VI, Title VII and/or Title IX.
- Manage the Policy Library in coordination with the Division of Communications and Marketing
