Nursing Lab Assistant


The Instruction and Classroom Technician 3 reports to the Simulation Manager. This individual has primary responsibility for assisting faculty and clinical instructors who teach in the skills laboratory and simulation suites. Assistance provided includes skills demonstrations, acting as a simulated patient, and general maintenance and operation of the nursing laboratory and simulation areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Faculty Assistance
  • Assist faculty and clinical instructors to implement the skills laboratory curriculum
  • Set up, take down, and assist with skills labs, open lab practice sessions, and simulations
  • Perform skills demonstrations and assist with supervision of student practice
  • Operate audiovisual and simulation technology
  • Instruct faculty in the operation of audiovisual and simulation technology
  • Collaborate to develop and maintain laboratory materials and manuals
  • Schedule and implement clinical remediation plans for students

    Laboratory Maintenance and Safety
  • Assist the lab manager to develop safe laboratory procedures
  • Monitor the laboratories for compliance with safety policies and procedures
  • Orient faculty and students on safety policies and procedures
  • Assure safe management of sharps disposal and simulated medications
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained within manufacturer recommendations
  • Monitor inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment
  • Collaborate with the Simulation Manager to make recommendations for the purchase of instructional equipment, materials, and supplies

    Clerical Duties
  • Assist with creating and managing lab and simulation schedules
  • Keep records of student attendance in scheduled laboratory and simulation labs
  • Assist manager to maintain records of laboratory and simulation suite usage

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
  • Unencumbered Washington Registered Nurse license, or eligible for licensure
  • At least three years recent clinical experience
  • Current healthcare provider CPR certification
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years recent clinical experience
  • One year experience in a nursing skills and simulation lab
  • Strong computer skills, including use of MS Office, Google Suite, and Canvas or other learning management system

    PAY & BENEFITS

  • $30 per hours
  • 30 – 40 hours per week
  • Employee may become eligible for PEBB insurance benefits after 6 months of employment.
