East Stroudsburg University is hiring for an ESU4KIDS Instructor! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country's largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.

Position Summary:

To be successful in this position, instructors for the ESU4KIDS Summer Program will engage with children over the course of two weeks: July 15-19 & July 22-26, 2024. The program will run daily Monday - Friday (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM), totaling 70 hours of engagement with children. Instructors will also be required to spend 20-30 hours planning STEM+Literacy activities prior to the start of the program.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Planning, organizing, and implementing STEM+Literacy programming for children, with built in flexibility for schedule changes/weather.
  • Encouraging positive behaviors in the activity sessions.
  • Communicating with parents as needed.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and order for activity areas & equipment; ensuring activity areas are clean at the end of each session.
  • Being present and engaged at all activities.
  • Communicating with and working under the ESU4KIDS director (ESU faculty) and reporting any issues, needs (homesickness/health concerns/behavior), or concerns in a timely manner to ensure the safety of children and parents.
Qualifications:
  • Teaching Certification (Elementary/Middle Level Preferred).
  • Pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Classroom teaching experience with diverse populations.
  • Experience in facilitating STEM-Literacy based activities indoors and outdoors/hands-on activities.
  • Collaborates/works well with teammates and supervisors.
  • Ability to demonstrate lesson/activity planning and implementation at a daily/weekly/program level
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
