Purpose of the position
- Responsible for producing quality chemical intermediates and finished products according to a pre-determined operations plan.
- Operations of process equipment in accordance with Key Performance Measures, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety/regulatory requirements, and divisional goals.
Responsibilities
- Operates and monitors equipment and process to produce quality chemical intermediates and finished products to a pre-determined operations plan. Identifies equipment/process problems/ improvement opportunities and communicates findings as appropriate. Makes necessary adjustments to react to process changes or to optimize process performance.
- Obtains and inspects finished/in-process product and performs sampling and testing as required.
- Performs material handling (e.g., loading trailers, manually dumping bags/drums of ingredients and reprocessed material, drumming finished product, solvents, or other process streams, and loading/unloading portable tanks and trucks). Forklift operation. Weighing and dispensing of raw materials.
- Performs general housekeeping/maintenance of process areas (e.g., painting, cleaning, etc.). Performs the principles of Manufacturing Excellence (Manufex) environment, (e.g., minor equipment repair).
- Maintains process and equipment documentation for tracking overall equipment effectiveness. Approves batch sheets for accuracy. Prepares final product labels and maintains label control. Assists with generating and maintaining SOPs, following change control procedures and validation processes as requested.
- Display and promote positive safety behaviors at all times; use proper personal protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, equipment, and procedures to ensure that self and others go home safe each day; that area and equipment operate at the highest safety levels; that all people in the area (production employees, quality personnel, visitors, maintenance, contractors, etc.) comply with safety directives and keep the area neat and clean.
- Involvement in setting up and reviewing site SHE requirements, procedures, and instructions by participating in SHE culture on site.
- Acts in such a way that safety awareness & accident prevention are considered in performing all tasks.
Required Experience/Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years of production experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment, rotating shifts, and coordinate multiple resources without direct supervision.
- Ability to operate personal computers.
