The Coordinator of Residential Engagement at Drew University is an exciting role in the Office of Residence Life & Student Conduct. This is a live-in position that manages a residential community and focuses on engaging students through community-building initiatives. This Coordinator works with undergraduate, graduate, and theological school student residents. Supervises student Community Assistants, and supports student engagement through the coordination of programming. Some Student Conduct work may be required of this role to explore fact-finding of alleged violations of university policies and procedures. Responsible for assigned after-hours/weekend/holiday on-call duties on a rotational basis to address any campus emergencies. It is expected that the individual in this position is on-campus for more than just assigned duty time, in order to build community.

  • Excellent management and detail-oriented; strong organization abilities, and exceptional oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Ability to identify needs/concerns of staff and residents, determine potential solutions and resolve issues or redirect appropriately.
  • Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively, meet established deadlines, and maintain a strong attention to detail while handling day-to-day work. Interest in student success and supporting the mission and vision of the university.
  • Ability to lead in a crisis/emergency situation, knowing that additional staff are on standby to support these situations.
About this position:
  • An unfurnished, on-campus apartment, partial meal plan, and free on-campus parking are provided with this role.
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in student affairs or a similar field preferred.
  • No professional experience necessary, but a background or knowledge of a residence life operation is preferred.
