Position Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, this position will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward foundations and corporations for major gifts in support of the goals and priorities of the Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth Health. Works closely with development leadership, faculty, clinicians, and program leads to clarify and articulate fundraising goals. Helps researchers advance basic science, clinical, and translational research priorities by assisting with proposal development and submission. Manages a portfolio of major institutional funders and is responsible for meeting a series of annual associated performance metrics.

Experience
• 5+ years of fund-raising in a complex development organization, preferably in corporate and foundation relations.
• Experience in managing faculty and leadership relationships, complex fundraising proposals, and multi-institutional interactions.
• Writing and communications experience, preferably in higher education or a non-profit environment.

Education
• Bachelor's degree;

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an academic medical center setting or basic sciences environment preferred.
• Master's degree or the equivalent preferred.

Description

Identification, Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship
• Manages a portfolio of foundation and corporate prospects through the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship cycles. Meets associated performance metrics.
• Participates in formulating strategies and approaches, including briefings and other working materials, for senior officers, faculty, and researchers involved in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporations and foundations.
• Works independently or in close collaboration with Geisel and Dartmouth Health leadership, faculty, and directors to develop and submit proposals for funding.
• In collaboration with the director, organizes and coordinates corporate and foundation meetings and site visits.
• Ensures appropriate recognition and stewardship of corporate and foundation donors.

Description

Program Management
• Maintains knowledge of initiatives, current programs, and other funding opportunities offered by corporations and foundations.
• Builds relationships with leadership and staff at priority corporations and foundations.
• Meets regularly and builds relationships with faculty, physicians, and program leads at Geisel and Dartmouth Health to gain knowledge about their research interests and funding needs. Develops portfolios of funding opportunities tailored to individual needs and goals.
• Follows institutional protocol for proposal submission via the Office of Sponsored Projects (Dartmouth) and Sponsored Projects Administration (Dartmouth Health).
• Uses office systems to track all activity with researchers and foundations/corporations.
