Working under the guidance of the Director Veterinary Program, to independently provide instruction in entry-level or career improvements topics.
High school diploma/GED and three years' experience as a Veterinary Technician. Associate's Degree, with college level teaching or adult education with online learning platforms and two years of experience preferred. Current certification in a Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) required.
Proficient computer technology knowledge with hardware and software packages, especially all Microsoft Office software. Must have a valid driver's license, with a good driving record.
· Compensation within the above posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.
1. Seek continuous improvement in teaching (classroom and on-line) methodology and student centered learning.
2. Stay current in Veterinary Science and Veterinary Clinical Assistant discipline.
3. Maintain scheduled availability to students and staff
4. Assist Program Director with daily management of the Veterinary programs.
5. Assist other faculty in developing, managing courses, and curricula.
6. Assist in student recruitment and selection.
7. Maintain laboratories, supplies and equipment.
8. Remain knowledgeable about the College, its structure, culture, policies, practices, and Veterinary Science.
Serve as an advocate for the College and its students, as required.
1. Assist in developing curriculum that meets that national core curriculum for Veterinary Technology.
2. Teach assigned courses, utilizing strategies and activities to promote student engagement and enhanced student learning.
3. Follow the established rules and guidelines of the Veterinary Technician National Examination.
4. Maintain certification, remain current and maintain accreditation in Veterinary Science and Technician skills.
5. Manages animals in the kennel area providing nursing care including the administering of medications, treatments and nourishment.
6. Maintain laboratories, supplies and equipment for the areas of Veterinary Science, Radiography, Chemistry, and Complete Blood Count, Dental and autoclave.
7. Performs quality control verification on all diagnostic equipment.
8. Responsible for laboratory inventory and the purchasing of medications used in the laboratory.
9. Serve as a clinical assistant in the Clinical Laboratory and Radiography courses and assist in instructing student on how to use the equipment.
10. Participate in administrative duties as required.
