The purpose of this class is to provide professional level administrative support services to assigned department or program.
High school diploma/GED and three years' experience working as an Administrative Assistant or Associated Degree and identical experience. Certification confirming competence in American Sign Language is required. Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office applications; ability to type 35 wpm and ability to serve as a sign language interpreter.
1. Assist and provide academic program information to students, faculty, administrators and the college community, and direct individuals to the correct CCBC department or resources based on request
2. Serve as communication assistant with deaf instructors and incoming students.
3. Serve as a proctor for American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI)
4. Serve as liaison to community to help educate about policies for internships sites per the Americans with Disabilities Act.
5. Serve as liaison between department or program and other offices or organizations.
6. Create and maintain databases.
7. Maintain records and files.
8. Type letters, reports, documents and other correspondence; use copier and fax equipment.
9. Answer, screen and direct telephone calls.
10. Compile reports, documents, forms and correspondence.
11. Process incoming and outgoing mail.
12. Assist in the planning and implementation of special projects, meetings, and events.
