The City of Salem is currently accepting applications for the position of Construction Inspector in the City's Community Development office. Successful applicant conducts construction inspections to ensure compliance with plan, specifications and standards; coordinates construction activities between the City and contractors; and prepares and maintains detailed records and files. An Associates/Technical degree with coursework in engineering, construction management, or related field and considerable experience in surveying, streets, drainage, and utility construction, or any equivalent combination of education and experience and a valid VA driver's license is required. State certification as a Stormwater Inspector, E&S Control Inspector and Concrete Inspector is preferred, but is required within 2 years of hire. Applications will be accepted until September 3, 2019.
