Full-Time Police Officer
(Police Officer/School Resource Officer)
The City of Oakland Police Department is Currently accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Police Officer / School Resource Officer. Basic entry level officer and experienced/lateral officer applications will be accepted.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY:
* At least 21 year of age,
* U.S. or Naturalized Citizen qualified to work in the United States,
* No felony or misdemeanor conviction for domestic battery or any offense which forbid he/she from carrying a firearm, * High school diploma or equivalent,
* Able to pass a mandatory drug screen,
* Valid Driver’s License,
* Must agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examination and training requirements, and
* Ability to furnish upon request, a copy of the following: a resume; professional licenses; training certificates; documents confirming work experience; birth certificate; high school diploma or GED certificate; transcripts of higher learning; naval or military service board and discharge papers (DD-214); employee evaluations; and any other employment related material as requested or required.
EXPERIENCED/LATERAL OFFICER QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY:
* Current State of Illinois certification by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as a Full-Time Law Enforcement Officer or is able to obtain the proper certification without having to attend any academy. (Part-time certification as a law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement.),
* Minimum of at least two years of experience as a full time sworn, certified law enforcement officer with a State, County or Municipal Agency, and
* Currently in good standing with the State, County or Municipal Agency in which the applicant works or has worked.
* Candidates with less than two years of experience may be considered if the candidate has completed 60 hours of college credit or has two years of active duty military experience in addition to full time sworn certified law enforcement officer certification.
