Public Works Crew Supervisor
$19 - 30 per hour
Need an experienced construction supervisor to oversee asphalt and street repair work.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to lead Public Works crews in the field to enable the completion of jobs in a timely manner. This is accomplished by scheduling and overseeing the work crew,
ensuring equipment and materials are sufficient, repair and maintaining equipment, training crews, purchasing equipment and supplies and maintaining inventories, and assisting with
special projects as assigned. Additional duties include handling communications with residents and documenting work completed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
-Description of Minimum Job RequirementsFormal Education Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Junior college, vocational, business, and technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training. Experience Over two years up to and including four years. Supervision Work requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees or department including providing input or hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives/effectiveness, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed. A first line supervisor typically performs these functions.

Decisions regarding interpretation of policies may be made. Contact may involve support of controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive issues or important presentations. Contacts may involve stressful, negative interactions with the public requiring high levels of tact and the ability to respond to aggressive interpersonal interactions.

Fiscal Responsibility
This job title has no budgetary responsibility. (Public Works – The job title prepares accounting, budget, employment actions, purchasing documents; and does research to justify language used in documents for a unit or division of a department.
Reading Intermediate - Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
