Regional SMVF Navigator (Service Members, Veterans and Families)

BRBH is seeking a Regional SMVF Navigator (Service Members, Veterans and Families) to provide project management and coordination for the development and implementation of regional initiatives related to increasing access to, and quality of, behavioral health services available for individuals with military backgrounds and their families. This position will provide outreach and visit the ten CSBs (Community Services Boards) in Region 3 on a regular basis, develop referral resources across the region, and support CSBs in meeting statewide goals for veteran services through STEP-VA. The Regional SMVF Navigator will facilitate communication, oversee regional SMVF training and capacity-building funds, and work to grow best practices to support area veterans and their families.
Additional objectives for the successful candidate will be to assist CSBs to identify and access workforce training needs related to military culture, as well as to provide educational materials and outreach activities. Interpersonal skills are highly valued, as this individual will be frequently interacting with community stakeholders and outside organizations while representing the region. The Regional SMVF Navigator will also collaborate with relevant partners at federal, state, and local levels, and participate in regional SMVF initiatives focused on suicide prevention.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred in an applicable human services or health management field.
- Experience: Three years management or program coordination experience in human services or related field. Service member, veteran, or family member lived experience preferred.
- Driving Record: This position requires driving an agency vehicle, as it consists of up to 20% travel time, with some travel outside of the local area. Candidates must have a valid Virginia driver's license with a safe driving record (no more than two moving violations in the last three years AND no criminal violations in the last five years).
