IT Help Desk Support Specialist

The IT Technician (Information Technology) at BRBH is responsible for providing front-line IT support to internal and remote staff to assure business continuity by responding to help desk requests for technical assistance. IT Technician will escalate tickets to next level support as needed. This also includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware/software and equipment to ensure optimal PC performance. Responsible for maintaining information in user accounts when needed. Documenting hardware/software issues and resolutions in the IT Help Desk knowledge base. Provides end-user training and assistance in the use of PCs/software when requested (by telephone, electronically, occasionally in person). Additionally act as backup for updating the agency Intranet website.Our IT team leads our agency in modeling and troubleshooting remote work capabilities.
This position is located in Roanoke, VA.

Licensure/Certification Required: A certification and/or Net or equivalent experience.
Education Required: Associate's Degree in Information Technology required, or equivalent knowledge, skills & abilities.
Experience Required: A minimum of 2 years computer/hardware/software troubleshooting experience and help desk support experience.
Additional Requirements
- Active, unrestricted driver's license and a good driving record (no more than two moving violations in the last three years and no criminal violations within the last five years).
- Preference for work in a fast-paced environment, ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of:
o LAN/WAN.
o Desktop and laptop hardware, including internal components.
o Hands-on hardware/software troubleshooting experience.
o Current network protocols, Microsoft operating systems, network printer installation.
o How to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides
o Microsoft Office versions (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
o How to conduct research into PC issues and products for problem resolution.
o Share and security attributes for folder/file security.
o Helpdesk ticketing system.
o Active Directory.
o Disk imaging software.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will often sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crawl, climb, reach above their head, and use hands for placing and pulling objects (computer parts installation, carrying equipment, CAT5 network cable RJ45 connectors, installation of small components and small screws in computers). The employee frequently lifts up to 50 pounds, carries up to 25 pounds and pushes or pulls up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (computer & documentation). Specific hearing required by this job includes normal tones.
