Job Description:


Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000

The Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion invites applicants to submit interest for the position of Coordinator of Restorative Practices and Diversity Education. This is an in-person, full-time position working closely with a small team of diversity educators to provide outreach and support to faculty, staff, and students throughout the campus and greater community within the UDiversity Educational Institute. The Coordinator of Restorative Practices and Diversity Education is a creative, flexible collaborator and a trauma-informed educator interested in building relationships with campus stakeholders through meaningful engagement with education, outreach, and consulting with small and large groups. This position requires the ability to navigate difficult conversations with compassion and empathy. The successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity-minded policies, programs, and practices.

The Institute provides workshops and guidance for engagement around issues of equity, classroom, and workplace inclusion while emphasizing the importance of diversity in the greater community. The Coordinator of Restorative Practices and Diversity Education reports to the Assistant Director of UDiversity.

The essential responsibilities are as follows:
  • Customize and facilitate workshops for faculty, staff, and students from the campus community.
  • Facilitate services consist of restorative practice, restorative justice, racial healing circles with offered guidance on workplace/classroom strategies to reduce bias, increase civility, and promote a sense of belonging.
  • Stay current with trends in equity and inclusion practices, policies, and research to inform the development of the training curriculum.
  • Collaborate and guide student employees on projects.
  • Track and analyze metrics from surveys to measure the effectiveness of workshops. Utilize results to enhance pedagogical strategies and improve the learning experience.
  • Communicate effectively and manage client relationships by responding to campus constituents in a timely, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating consultations, meetings, events, and training sessions.
  • Assist with setting up, maintaining, and breaking down training sessions.
  • Assist with editing and marketing educational and promotional materials.
  • Complete general administrative duties as assigned by the assistant director pertinent to the role.
  • Partake in professional development to maintain and/or earn credentials and advance skills.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in diversity education, restorative justice practices, and/or racial healing circles
  • Experience organizing, customizing, and designing workshop and/or course curriculum
  • Experience working in a team environment collaboratively with various stakeholders and units within an organization
  • Experience with working various technological web-based platforms (e.g., Canva, Flip, Zoom, MS Teams)
Preferred:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Experience teaching classes, and designing curriculum for courses
  • Experience with adult education or corporate training
  • Experience with trauma-informed practices
