Job Description:


Budget Title: Staff Assistant (SL-2)

Salary: $47,261

The Coordinator of Multicultural Alumni Programs plays a pivotal role within the Office of Alumni Engagement at Binghamton University, responsible for fostering meaningful connections and engagement with the university's diverse alumni community. This individual will develop and implement initiatives, events, and communications that promote inclusivity, cultural understanding, and lifelong relationships among alumni from various backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Execute Multicultural Alumni Engagement Strategy:
    • Create a comprehensive strategy to engage and connect with alumni from diverse cultural backgrounds with a focus on historically underrepresented communities of color and difference.
    • Design and implement programs that celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Binghamton University's alumni community.
    • Establish objectives, timelines, and metrics to measure the effectiveness of multicultural alumni initiatives.
  • Event Planning and Execution:
    • Organize and coordinate multicultural alumni events, such as reunions, networking receptions, panel discussions, and cultural celebrations.
    • Collaborate with other university departments and alumni volunteers to ensure successful event planning and execution.
    • Monitor event budgets and manage logistics to ensure events run smoothly.
  • Outreach and Communication:
    • Foster strong relationships with multicultural alumni, alumni chapters, and student groups, and affinity groups to encourage active participation in university initiatives.
    • Utilize various communication channels, including social media, email newsletters, and alumni publications, to keep alumni informed about multicultural programs and events.
  • Alumni Network Development:
    • Cultivate and expand the university's multicultural alumni network by identifying potential leaders and advocates.
    • Facilitate communication and collaboration among multicultural alumni through regular updates and networking opportunities.
    • Serve as steward of and liaison to the Alumni of Color Network.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships:
    • Collaborate with other departments within the Office of Alumni Engagement and university to enhance overall alumni engagement efforts.
    • Establish partnerships with external organizations and affinity groups to strengthen connections and create shared programming opportunities.
  • Data Management and Analysis:
    • Maintain accurate records of alumni engagement and event attendance through the university's alumni database.
    • Analyze data and trends to evaluate the impact and success of multicultural alumni programs, making data-driven decisions for future improvements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required (e.g., Higher Education, Student Affairs, Diversity and Inclusion, Non-Profit Management).
  • Demonstrated experience in alumni relations, event planning, multicultural programming, non-profit management, or community relations.
  • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and their application in alumni engagement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of history of systemic inequity, racism, ableism, immigration/migration experience, and neurodivergence in the context of alumni engagement and the alumni experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as a culturally sensitive communicator, programmer and colleague.
  • Strong volunteer management and event planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in using various software tools for communication, event management, and data analysis.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • A valid driver's license to operate a vehicle in NYS and driving experience.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule that will fluctuate based on operating needs. Work schedule will include days, evenings, and weekends.
