Bank of Botetourt is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our Human Resources team as a Human Resources Generalist or Human Resources Assistant. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a passion for people and a strong understanding of HR best practices. As an HR Generalist, you will play a key role in supporting our employees and ensuring a positive work environment.

Primary Essential Functions of the Human Resources Generalist:

Monitors and reviews employee timekeeping on HR Management Software.

Process complete payroll for all Bank employees on HR Management Software.

Processes Keyboard Input for Payroll Accounts.

Processes HSA contributions on Health Equity website.

Verifies 401(k) contribution report.

Maintains attendance records and PTO accruals for all employees using HR Management Software.

Manages HR Email account and assists with answering employee HR questions.

Enter changes requests on HR Management Software for approval.

Serves as the main contact and administrator for recruitment of new employees. This includes posting jobs, assisting department managers with scheduling and conducting interviews, and sending offer letters or decline letters.

Responsible for conducting onboarding of new employees on HR management software and performing background checks and credit reports.

Assures all documentation on new employees is received and is retained in HR Management Software.

Assist Training Offer with new hire orientation.

Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.

Responsible for Job Description library, including organization and updates.

Updates Award PTO Accruals on HR Management Software when necessary.

Assists Accounting Department with all PTO transactions and accruals.
Secondary Essential Functions of the Human Resources Generalist:

Back-up administrator for Human Resources Management Software system.

Back-up and assist with administration of Defined Contribution Plan and Defined Benefit Plans.

Verify contribution changes and set-ups for employees.

Back-up point of contact for VOYA Financial representatives and Virginia Bankers Association (VBA) employees.

Acts as a liaison between the organization and VBA benefits providers and vendors and assists with administration of employee benefit plans.

Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, retirement celebrations, wellness campaigns.

Assists with Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability & Family Medical Leave Act tracking and processing.

Assists with SPIRIT Day assignments.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
-
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or comparable HR role.

PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred. Must be willing to obtain certification if necessary.

Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
-
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
