Compliance & Risk Administration Specialist

Bank of Botetourt is looking for a highly organized individual to work part-time, approximately 25 hours per week, at our Customer Care Center in Buchanan as a Compliance & Risk Administration Specialist. Qualified candidates must have excellent communication skills both oral and written. In addition, they must be able to work independently. Bank of Botetourt offers medical insurance and retirement benefits for part-time employees. This position will be responsible for the following:

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the day-to-day administrative duties for the Internal Audit and Policy Review Programs

Internal Audit Administrator is responsible for the following:

  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in the role of Internal Audit Administration
  • Liaison between the internal audit firm and bank management in the coordination of internal audit work


  • Downloading of document request information from the audit firm in preparation for internal audits
  • Communication with appropriate management and department managers to coordinate the collection of the requested information
  • Uploading data and information to the audit firm by prescribed due dates in preparation for internal audit work
  • Coordinate workspace as needed for on-site visits (office space, IT needs, etc.)
  • Assist in the coordination of responses from management to internal audits
  • Work with appropriate members of management to facilitate and update the Audit Findings Tracking Report
  • Facilitate communication for coordination of Audit Committee meetings


  • Communication to schedule meetings
  • Preparation of meeting agendas and associated documentation with guidance from FVP, Head of Compliance, and Risk

Policy Review Administrator:

  • Oversee the administration of the policy review schedule, as approved by the Risk, Technology, Compliance Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Perform administrative duties related to a quarterly review of bank policies.

To include:

  • Utilize SharePoint to facilitate the review process
  • Provide management with communication of expectations, guidance, and deadlines each cycle
  • Monitor for completion and provide follow-up communication as needed
  • Compile a summary of all changes to be reviewed with Board Committees and the Board for final approval
  • Once policies are approved, make the necessary updates, and replace existing policies with updated versions.

Compliance Department Administration

  • Perform weekly reviews of various social media platforms for comments and customer responses to Bank posts and profiles.
  • Monitor for advertising compliance
  • Comments that could be construed as complaints
  • Provide CRCO with monthly updates or potential findings


  • Provide superior customer service.
  • Represent the bank in a professional manner and deal effectively, tactfully and courteously with customers and personnel in other departments of Bank of Botetourt.
  • Knowledge of all bank departments and personnel to facilitate the directing of incoming calls.
  • Must possess the ability to deal with and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive customer and bank information.
  • Represent Bank of Botetourt in community affairs and events.
  • Treat all staff members with the utmost respect and cooperation.
  • Conduct business to maximize shareholder value.
  • Promptly report known or suspected violations of BSA laws, rules, or regulations involving the bank, its customers, or any other parties, or violations of the bank's BSA compliance program to the BSA Officer.
