Summary of Job
Manages the development and growth of corporate communications by implementing strategies to capture new business along all product lines and service channels through press releases, events, marketing, and community involvement. Your primary responsibility is to help promote the bank's brand and reputation through effective communication strategies. You will be responsible for creating visual designs and layouts that communicate the bank's brand identity and marketing messages to customers and the public. You will be responsible for managing the bank's social media presence across various platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram. As a member of the bank's marketing and communication team you will work to develop and implement communication plans that support the bank's goals and objectives.
In addition to the general job duties outlined above, some specific responsibilities may include:
- Media Relations: Develop and maintain positive relationships with members of the media, including reporters, editors, and producers. Respond to media inquiries and coordinate interviews with bank executives and prepare press releases and other communications materials, including Constant Contact.
- Social Media Management: Manage the bank's social media presence, including creating and scheduling posts, responding to comments and messages, and analyzing social media metrics. Develop a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the bank's overall marketing and business objectives. Oversee the development and implementation of social media advertising campaigns with the oversight of the FVP Marketing Strategy and Business Development Officer.
- Content Creation: Create and edit written content for a variety of communication channels, including the bank's website, blog, and newsletters. Develop visual content, such as graphics and videos, to support communication initiatives such as email templates, web banners, social media graphics, and other digital marketing materials that effectively promote the bank's products and services.
- Event Coordination: Assist with the planning, facilitating, and execution of bank-sponsored events, such as community outreach programs and customer appreciation events. Help coordinate logistics, manage vendor relationships, help with volunteer coordination, and ensure events run smoothly.
- Internal Communications: Help maintain open lines of communication between employees and management. Assist and facilitate with the development and distribution of internal communications, such as BCP, employee text alerts, flyers, establishing channels within Teams, memos, and announcements.
- Designing marketing collateral: Create and design marketing collateral such as brochures, flyers, posters, and other promotional materials that align with the bank's brand and messaging.
- Collaborating with the marketing team: As a member of the marketing team, you will help develop and implement marketing campaigns and initiatives that are visually compelling and effective.
- Ensuring brand consistency: Ensuring that all visual designs and marketing materials align with the bank's brand guidelines and messaging, maintaining consistency across all marketing channels.
- Staying up to date on design trends: In this role it is important that you stay up to date on the latest design trends and technologies to ensure that the bank's visual designs and marketing materials remain fresh and relevant.
- Supporting executive communications: You will support executive communications efforts, including preparing speeches and presentations for bank executives.
- Collaborating with the marketing team: You will work closely with the marketing team to ensure that the bank's social media efforts align with overall marketing strategies and initiatives.
- Conducting research: You will conduct research on various topics related to the bank's business and industry to support the development of communication, surveys, and media materials.
- Coordinating photo and video shoots: You will coordinate photo and video shoots for various bank initiatives, including arranging for photographers and videographers, coordinating locations, and preparing necessary materials.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be comfortable working with various forms of media. Additionally, you should be able to work well under pressure, be highly organized, and have a strong attention to detail. A background in marketing, communications, or public relations is preferred, as is experience working with the media or in social media management. Familiarity with the banking industry is also beneficial. Your ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, will be critical to the success of this role. Your attention to detail, ability to multitask, and willingness to take on new challenges will help ensure that the bank's communications efforts are effective and efficient.
Essential Functions of the Communications and Media Relations Assistant:
- In consultation with the FVP Marketing Strategy & Business Development Officer, develops short-term and long-term goals, objectives and priorities for the bank's communications function, business development, certain marketing mediums, public relations, and certain non-traditional sales functions. Working with vendors and contractors to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Ensure brand compliance and work with the banks Compliance Department to ensure content and compliance approval.
- Develops, implements, and administers Bank of Botetourt's policy, procedures, and checklists for communications, online social media, advertising.
- Utilizes knowledge based upon experience and formal training in communications to conceptualize, create, and implement public relations programs that will promote all services and products and favorably project the Bank's image and goals.
- Continually reviews journals, articles, publications, and other material to be appraised of regulatory and legal changes pertaining to the marketing functions to keep abreast of new developments and to ensure that departmental policies and procedures comply with all applicable regulations.
- Plans and executes the Bank's promotional needs to include social media, digital marketing, email communication tool "constant contact", press releases, and internal communication projects.
- Directs and approves copy, graphic design, and layout and vendor coordination of all materials related to the annual report, and custom calendar.
- Consults with other departmental supervisors in developing employee communication about bank's products and services.
- Provide leadership in serving on internal project development task force. This will provide opportunities to think "outside the box" to implement new ideas and projects.
- Together with the Marketing Department, promote the sales culture related to Botetourt Wealth Management, Bankers Insurance, merchant services, and Title Services. Work with the related employees in those functions to produce materials for the retail staff for cross-sale opportunities.
- Work directly with the FVP Marketing Strategy & Business Development Officer to filter and embrace project initiatives.
- Assist the Marketing Department in event planning and communication.
- Maintains a wide variety of contacts within and outside the bank, promoting services, exchanging information, and representing the bank at civic and trade functions and professional organizations.
- Serve as liaison between management and officers to help bank employees stay abreast on banking related political topics as well as direct employees when they should contact legislators on specific bills in support of our industry.
