Position Summary
With an approaching centennial anniversary, Austin Peay State University is seeking a Director of Corporate Relations & Strategic Alliances to develop, grow and manage the corporate and foundation relations for the University. A primary focus will center on building relationships with corporations, state and national foundations and coordinating proposal-writing initiatives with a passion for higher education and the role philanthropy plays in supporting its mission. This position reports to the Executive Director of Philanthropy.Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Fundraising Management (60%):
*Coordinate with Office of Philanthropy colleagues and internal stakeholders to identify and solicit foundation and corporation support.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Fundraising Management (60%):
*Coordinate with Office of Philanthropy colleagues and internal stakeholders to identify and solicit foundation and corporation support.
- Primary responsibility will be working with foundations and corporations to foster relationships and develop an annual Corporate and Foundation Comprehensive Strategic Plan for the Alumni, Engagement and Philanthropy Division.
- Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with the Office of Grants, Research and Sponsored Programs, and Office of Career Services to foster their involvement in the proposal creation and prospect identification process.
- Plan, organize and execute campus visits for corporations and foundations with philanthropic potential for APSU.
- Create an active pipeline of 100+ corporate and foundation prospects through identification, qualification, and cultivation efforts.
- Participate in structured sessions with colleagues to coordinate prospect identification activity, engagement, strategy building, proposal development, solicitation and follow up for engaging regional and national foundations.
- Develop letters of inquiry, proposals, and memorandum of understanding documents with special attention to managing the overall quality, accuracy and timeliness of all written correspondence and responses.
- Present timely analysis of foundation giving trends to ensure strategic planning in this area.
- Provide thoughtful, consistent, and appropriate foundation and corporate stewardship including events, impact reports and other measures of accountability.
- Oversee gift invoicing and track awards to ensure that they are awarded appropriately.
- Maintain updated brochures and printed materials
- Monitor and enter all activity in the Blackbaud database system in an accurate and timely
- Results-oriented with professional characteristics that include leadership, commitment to confidentiality, flexibility, team-orientation, and sensitivity to the stewardship of long-term relationships.
- Ability to work weekends, nights and travel when necessary.
- Ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Candidate must show attention to detail and the ability to balance strategic and scheduled responsibilities.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Effectively works with others to reach common goals and objectives.
- Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Bachelor's degree and experience in fundraising, business development, sales or related field
- A background and credit history check will be required of the successful applicant.
