Accountant and Office Manager
The American Alliance of Museums seeks a motivated, organized, financial professional to support the finance and administration departments of the nation's largest association of museum professionals. The desired candidate has knowledge of basic accounting principles and the ability to perform processes such as accounts payable/receivable; reconciliations; batch processing and is eager to learn about financial maintenance, reporting, and analysis in non-profits.
About the position: Reporting to the Senior Accountant and working closely with the Director of Finance and Administration, the Accountant & Office Manager is responsible for processing and supporting day-to-day accounting transaction and functions. Primary duties include accounts payable maintenance, cash receipts batch distribution and data entry, cash reconciliations, and routine data/order imports. He/she directly supports the Senior Accountant in all month-end close processes, including the monthly reconciliation of the bank accounts against the general ledger, preparing recurring and ad-hoc journal entries for review, and assisting with year-end audit preparations.
The Accountant & Office Manager also provides administrative support to program and management staff including data entry, data base maintenance, office supply maintenance, office equipment support, and general administrative and executive office support. Salary range is low to mid $50's.
Skills and qualifications:
- Ability to perform basic bookkeeping functions
- Understanding of general accounting principles
- Non-profit accounting experience preferred
- Experience with accounting software, association management software (AMS) and MS Office preferred
- Strong and versatile communication and customer service skills
