Director, Conference Services

Position Summary:
Responsible for overall strategic and daily direction of conference services staff and programs. Leading an overall team of 6 professionals, this position provides oversight of the implementation of more than 40 member meetings and events every year. With team support, this position prepares and manages the departmental budget, meetings, sponsorships, exhibits, other events, gifts, transportation, etc.
Key sample responsibilities:
- Responsible for overall management of the Annual International Conference, Workshop & Law Institute, and other AAMVA meetings
- Manage event management services for four regional conferences,
- Manage development of meeting criteria, preparation of RFPs, analysis of responses and select sites for meetings
- Responsible for reviewing promotional material, registration material, program guides, newsletters and other conference-related material
- Provide oversight of the fulfillment of sponsorship and exhibit sales
- Oversee the event registration process
- Oversee AAMVA travel platform
Direct Reports to this Position:
- Manager, Conference Services
- Manager, Travel and Registration
Formal Education: A BA or equivalent from accredited college or university.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 15 years or more of work experience, with 10 or more years relevant and experience in conference/event planning within a membership type organization. A minimum of five years' experience with personnel and departmental management experience required.
Excellent communication/organization skills. Candidate should possess strong analytical skills and be detail oriented. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities is mandatory.
The nature of event management is a highly physical role. The successful candidate should be able to spend extended periods of time on their feet, walk extensive on site at events, and be able to travel.
